Donoghue's Dunboyne heading for Cheltenham Ian Donoghue is a rising star in the training ranks and saddled a double at Downpatrick's final meeting of the year yesterday. The Clonalvy Co Meath handler has proven himself to be particularly adept at revitalising horses acquired from other yards and Dunboyne is a case in point. Stephen O'Connor's 10-year-old was pulled up on his last four outings for Gordon Elliott but won his first two races for Donoghue including the Ulster National at Downpatrick in March.  The following month, the Yeats gelding ran a career-best when a fine fourth in the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse before heading off for a summer break. Dunboyne is in good shape and will have his first start of the campaign soon, according to his trainer. "He worked in the Curragh on Thursday and you wouldn't think he was the ten-year-old of the bunch working, he worked very well," said Donoghue.  "Touch wood, we are actually going to go to Cheltenham with him on Saturday week (October 25th). There's a three-mile handicap there.  "Then that will give him good time for the Troytown (in Navan on Sunday November 16th).  "We were going to go for an open point-to-point and you could end up with a very hard race for not much prizemoney, so we will go and take our chance in the 100 grand handicap inCheltenham."
