Facile Ocean enjoys facile victory The Ciaran Murphy-trained Facile Ocean (2/1 jf) was a comprehensive winner of the Well of Moate Maiden Hurdle for jockey Eoghan Finegan. The son of Affinisea enjoyed his own way out in front and delivered some brilliant jumps, but when called upon by rider Finegan to win his first, he duly obliged and landed the contest by fourteen lengths, with the Gordon Elliott-trained First Ascent back in second. Speaking after the race, Finegan said: “I got it very easy on the front end. He got left alone and I think it was a big plus,” said Finegan. “He can be very hot before a race but today he didn’t sweat up or anything and it went very smooth. “He’s quirky but today we got everything right and it went smooth. He’s a nice horse when things do go his way. “He’s unbelievable to leap and it’s brilliant to get it here at the local track for Sheila (Gavin).” (Quotes from Gary Carson)
