A drop back to an extended seven-furlongs did the trick for Finsceal Annie in the GAIN The Advantage Series Handicap in Foxrock.

Her two previous victories came over an extended seven at Tipperary and over seven on the Polytrack in Dundalk.

She got interested in the first prize a furlong and a-half down and moved into a narrow lead from Free Solo and Cordouan just over a furlong out for Dylan Browne McMonagle.

The four-year-old filly was strong in the final 150 yards as she went on to win by a length and a-quarter at 4/1. Free Solo (11/2) filled the runner-up berth and was a head in front of 7/2 favourite Cordouan.

Ciaran Murphy said: “She’s a grand, consistent filly and she was in season the last day (ninth over a mile at this venue).

“Seven furlongs or a mile is fine, but seven is probably her sweet spot.

“She’ll come back here again next Thursday all being well. She’s a fun horse for the lads (Legends Galore Syndicate).”
