Flanagan shines on Lets Go

Lets Go Sunshine put in a game performance to fend off the challenge of King High and take the www.thetote.com Galway Plate Trial Handicap Chase for his rider Sean Flanagan and trainer Colin Bowe.

The son of Sunshine Street won two races on the track last year having come from the point-to-point scene. He won his maiden hurdle at Downpatrick in September of 2010 and followed up that win again at Downpatrick in a novice chase the following month.

The winner was never too far off the pace and led from three out. It looked as if the runner-up King High (12/1) would overtake the winner as he travelled well in behind, but under a strong Sean Flanagan ride he kept finding more, winning by a length at the line at 7/1.

The first reserve Willies Girl under Denis Hogan ran well to take third a further four lengths back at 25/1.

Travelling head lad for Colin Bowe, David O'Connor said afterwards: "He has been knocking on the door and he needs a trip. He had a light weight and his form was rock solid. He got a brilliant ride from Sean (Flanagan).

"He will go for the Midlands National now or the Galway Plate if he gets into it."

The 4/1 favourite Got Attitude ran no sort of race and was pulled up before seven out.
