Gabynako put in a lovely display of jumping to deliver in the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committe Beginners Steeplechase at Fairyhouse.

This was his second start over fences having been beaten by a head in Galway last month.

He raced close to the pace under Darragh O'Keeffe in this two mile five furlong test and assumed the lead with a good jump at the sixth.

The field stacked up in behind him coming to the third last but a nimble leap at the next helped his cause. Midnight Run attempted to challenge at the last but made a mistake there as Gabynako raced away from it to score by two and a quarter lengths. Fury Road (4/1) got up for second in a bunch finish for the places. He was a short head in front of Max Flamingo (28/1 from 50/1).

“He was very good and jumped brilliant, it was an exhibition of jumping really,” said Gavin Cromwell.

“I have him entered in the (Grade One) Drinmore, I had it in my mind that it might be a bit sharp for him but the way he jumped there maybe it won't.

“On slower ground, which he has no problem with, we'd definitely be considering it.”
