Galway still a possibility for The Romford Pele Rebecca Curtis fears a big hike in the weights may rule The Romford Pele out of the Galway Plate. Curtis had been favouring a crack at the valuable highlight of the seven-day fixture later this summer. But after turning Sunday's John Smith's Summer Cup at Uttoxeter into a bit of a procession, The Romford Pele is likely to have to lump a big weight around the Ballybrit venue, forcing Curtis into a possible rethink. "We'll just have to see what the handicapper does," said the Newport handler. "He won't go over to Ireland if he gets a massive rise in the weights, it would be very difficult to win off nearly top weight. "He's still a novice for next season so he could end up in some good races. If he doesn't go over he'll have a break now as he's been on the go for 12 months. "Races like the Hennessy or some of the better novices will maybe be for him - you just don't know how good he could be, he's only seven. "His jumping can still be a bit iffy but when he gets daylight he's fine. "He could be very good."
