The Gordon Elliott trained Gerri Colombe won for the first time in almost two years when justifying favouritism in the Bluegrass Racehorse Cube Chase at Down Royal.

Sent off 8/13f under Jack Kennedy, the Robcour owned 10-year-old was never out of the first two throughout.

Leading the front running Roi Mage after the third last, the former Grade 1 winner had to be kept up to his work before eventually running out a five-length winner.

Having his first run of the season, Grand National winner Nick Rockett kept on to finish a further one-and-three-quarter lengths behind in third.

Gordon Elliott said: "Jack said he loved the ground, he really enjoyed himself. He said he didn't do a stroke when he got to the front

"Jumped well, so very happy."

When asked if he will go straight to the Aintree Grand National, he replied: "He's in the National and we have the choice of the Bowl as well, so we'll have a chat with Brian and Rob (Acheson) and the whole team (Robcour), and see what we think.

"I was delighted with him (in Fairyhouse), he's coming along the whole way. Obviously, he had a setback and missed most of last year.

"He's been unbelievable for me."

Paddy Power went 25/1 (from 33) Gerri Colombe for the Grand National. Nick Rockett was left unchanged at 20/1.
