Goldikova wins fourth straight Prix Rothschild Goldikova won an unprecendented fourth successive Group 1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville today. Freddie Head's five-year-old mare tracked her pacemaker Flash Dance throughout the mile contest before striking for home with two furlongs to run. Jockey Olivier Peslier was confident he had all of his rivals beaten as he eased the mare down in the shadows of the post, with the winning distance of a short neck no indication of her superiority. This was the daughter of Anabaa's 14th success at the top level, and the darling of French racing was given a heroes reception as she passed the line in-front, becoming the first horse to win four consecutive Group Ones in France since the inception of the European Pattern in 1971. Runner-up Sahpresa ran well, with Rod Collet's mare closing the winner down in the final furlong, while Sir Henry Cecil's Falmouth Stakes winner Timepiece did best of the rest back in third under Tom Queally. Fellow British raider First City ran on late in the day for fourth place, with David Simcock's mare running a very creditable race.
