Clerk of the Course Paddy Graffin was pleasantly surprised how well the track at Gowran Park has stood up to the elements in recent days after walking the track this afternoon.

The Co. Kilkenny venue hosts two Grade 2 races on their Red Mills sponsored card this Saturday but fingers are firmly crossed as a further weather system is due to cross the country tomorrow.

Graffin said, "The ground is heavy but I've no issue with the track. The problem is the forecast is not great for tomorrow.

"We could get anything between 11mm and 28mm of rain, and if it's at the upper end I'd be worried.

"A lot of trees were blown down in the storm yesterday, and the track has brought in additional people to clear things up."
