Mick Halford's two leading juveniles have run their last races of the season and the trainer hopes they will develop into Classic contenders.

Toscanini, owned by Godolphin, signed off for the year by finishing a close second to Gleneagles in the National Stakes at the Curragh on Irish Champions Weekend.

The Aga Khan-owned filly Raydara skipped a possible engagement in the Moyglare Stud Stakes after winning the Debutante Stakes when beating Lucida, who was only narrowly edged out in the Moyglare subsequently.

"She's gone home for her winter break," said Halford.

"We could have run her in the Moyglare but we just felt she'd done enough for the year and she'd benefit from a long break.

"Toscanini has done enough for the year, too.

"There's every chance he could be a Guineas horse. He's got bundles of speed and he may get a mile. I don't see him staying further than a mile, though.

"We'll see how he does in the winter and whether he has a prep race somewhere will depend on the ground. He has a preference for good ground, so if it's a wet spring he probably wouldn't run.

"He's met some very smart horses this season, we've never ducked a battle, and when you are running in Group Ones you're going to meet the best horses.

"We have to be happy with what he's done this season."
