Noel Meade is training his former Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup winner Helvic Dream for a potential crack at hurdling.

It was back in May 2021 that the Power gelding hit the jackpot at the top level in the Curragh, and he confirmed his current well-being on the Flat with a runner-up berth in Listed company at Headquarters yesterday.

Attention now turns to flights, though, as Meade said: “We tried him before over hurdles and basically he wouldn’t settle, so now we are going to try it again because he is more relaxed in his races than he used to be.

“He can jump very well, but he just rushed them and he’d be gone.

“He’s fit at the moment, so we’ll try it again this week and, if it goes alright and we think he might settle, we could give him a run.

“If it works it works and, if not, we can go back to the Flat.”
