Hurdling debut for Dunguib at Galway

Dunguib makes his eagerly-awaited debut over jumps on Sunday in the CCTV Venue Control Maiden Hurdle at Galway.

The Philip Fenton-trained six-year-old gelding was a stunning winner of the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in March, powering away from Some Present for a 10-length success.

The runner-up has come out and won over timber, and all eyes will be on Dunguib - already as low as 5-2 favourite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle - as he appears to face a relatively easy task against 19 rivals over two miles.

Amateur Brian O'Connell keeps the ride, and Fenton said: "He's ready enough, he's been back in three months but hasn't done a huge amount of work.

"He's had one racecourse gallop and has schooled over plenty of obstacles. He's done well but I'm sure the experience will do him plenty of good."
