Hurling For Cancer Tonight in Newbridge

The sixth annual 'Hurling for Cancer' fundraiser will take place at 6.30pm this evening in St. Conleth's Park in the centre of Newbridge town in Co. Kildare.

The event organised jointly by trainer Jim Bolger and jockey Davy Russell is always great fun and has raised a staggering €540,000 over the last five years for cancer research.

A host of stars from racing, GAA and soccer will take part in the match this evening with the two teams managed by hurling legends Brian Cody and Liam Griffin (assisted by Davy Fitzgerald).

Tickets can be purchased at the gate and are €10 for adults and €15 for families.

Some of the celebrities taking time out to attend this evening include: RTÉ's Miriam O'Callaghan, Joe Brolly, Peter Canavan, Colm O'Rourke, Ronnie Delaney, Ted Walsh, Katie Walsh, Kevin Manning, Michael Kinane, Seán Breathnach and Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh. Tenor Anthony Kearns will be on hand to sing the National Anthem.
