John Ryan's horses continue in superb form and a double at Ballinrobe on Monday brought his tally for the season to 24.

The Templemore handler, currently fifth in the trainer's table for races won and in terms of prize money, is already well ahead of his previous best score of 15 and is looking forward to next month's Harvest Festival at Listowel, where he is planning to run some of his higher-rated performers.

Owned by Thomas Meagher, Fairyhill Run has won four of her seven starts this term and the daughter of Mahler has been very impressive in her last two starts when running away with handicap chases at Limerick and Kilbeggan

“Fairyhill Run is a real queen - I think the world of her," said Ryan.

"She got another stone for winning at Kilbeggan which gets her into the Kerry National on 137.

“That mare is on the move and she could be anything.

“Waitnsee (second in the Midlands National at Kilbeggan) will also run in the Kerry National."

The Arctic Cosmos mare, a Grade 3 winner at Cork in April, has been kept to hurdles since that staying-on effort behind The Big Lense last month for which she was raised 3lb to a mark of 135.

Ryan added: “I love Listowel and The Little Yank will go for the big handicap hurdle (over two miles on the Friday). He didn’t get the run of the race the last day in Killarney (fourth to Wouldn't You Agree) but he’s come out of the race really well.”
