Irish raid at Hexham this afternoon Co Tyrone trainer James Lambe has a four strong team declared to run in Hexham today and after tasting success with Forestside (won at Hexham on June 4th) and Kingsmoss (won at Wetherby on June 2nd) on his last two UK raids he will be hopefully of more success today. His first runner Carpenter will have to deal with top weight in the fourth race of the card the Prospect Estates Handicap Hurdle. The two timer winner back in '08, when with Jessica Harrington needs to recapture his best form if he is to mount a challenge here. Thirty five minutes later Lambe saddles Storm Breaker, who ran a nice race on his last start to finish fourth at Cartmel. Worryingly however his only two successes came way back in '07 and he looks an exposed horse. Co Sligo trainer Mark McNiff has Whisky Galore in this race as well and this fellow looks to have a better chance after running a nice race to finish fourth behind Shady Pines at Sligo on his last start. His rider Derek Fox will take a valuable seven pounds off his 11-8 and he looks to have solid each-way claims. Lambe's best chance of a winner arguable comes in the penultimate race of the day the 2m 4f Handicap Chase, where his City of Doral should go close. This Double Trigger gelding won two competitive handicap hurdles at Navan in December of '09 and at Naas in February of last year and on his handicap chase debut here he is capable of more that his recent form would suggest. In the last race on the card Lambe saddles a newcomer called Shanroe Society. This gelding's dam, Wensum Dancer, was a nice sort who managed to win eight races, three under National Hunt rules and five on the level. If her son inherits her ability he should be well capable of picking up this ordinary contest. Coincidentally, Golden View, who was previously trained by Lambe, but is now with Karen McLintock is likely to go off favourite for the 2m contest.
