Jacques Le Marois next for Alpine Star Notwithstanding yesterday’s unfortunate identification mix-up at Galway, which saw her three-year-old Aurora Princess run and win in the guise of newcomer ‘Alizarine’ in the juvenile fillies’ maiden before the latter was disqualified, Jessica Harrington will be pleased with the fine form of her string in recent weeks. Victories for Maud Gonne Spirit and Citronnade gave her a double on the opening day of the festival on Monday which followed Saturday’s brace at Gowran Park. Having travelled over to York for her seasonal reappearance last Friday, the stable’s 2020 Coronation Stakes winner Alpine Star was beaten a short head at odds of 4/5 in a 1m 2f Listed contest which was won by the much lower-rated outsider Aristia. Harrington was not at all disappointed by the outcome, however, and is looking forward to going back up to Group 1 level with the daughter of Sea The Moon. “She's very good and I'm delighted with her, she's absolutely super after it. “The ground was probably a little bit quick for her, that was the problem, and she didn't quite let herself down on it. She just likes that bit of juice in it and she needed it (the run). “She goes to Deauville for the Prix Jacques Le Marois (on August 15th), the Niarchos family sponsor that race and she was second in it last year (to Palace Pier). “That's back to a mile, she's very versatile.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
