Justiciar, who had been placed twice before, made the breakthrough in the seven-furlong maiden for three-year-olds plus in Dundalk.

The Wootton Bassett filly, trained by Ger Lyons, went off 9/4 joint favourite for this assignment.

Jack Kearney raced her prominently and she travelled well to lead a furlong and a half down. She was asked to go and win her race at the furlong pole and kept on best to hold a closing Otsana (9/4jf) by a neck at the line. Elmakaya was just a head further back in third at 7/2.

Kearney said: "It was very important to get that job done.

"She's a lovely filly, she had a decent level of form throughout as a two-year-old and as a three-year-old.

"She's a nicely-bred filly and she has a good action. She took to the surface very well.

"She was (game) - I quickened up into it like I was going to go away and win well, but she did it nicely."
