Keane gets Bear up late to grab double Kc Bear lunged late to land the spoils in the nursery at Dundalk for Noel Meade, giving Colin Keane a double on the card. The Kodi Bear gelding missed the kick and raced in rear early in the six-furlong contest. Keane made ground in the centre in the straight and got a good tune from the 13/2 shot inside the final furlong as he chased down This Guy to get up on the line for a nose success. The winner had been a close third on his first outing in handicap company here 12 days ago. Meade said: "I was down about 50 or 100 yards from the line and he was well beaten at that stage. "Colin said he was flat out the whole way, so really seven (furlongs) would probably suit him better - if he would relax over the seven. "When you put Colin up, that's what can happen. "Having said all that, we thought when we started working him first that he was the 'real deal'. We went to the Curragh one day, with Colin riding him and he had ridden him work, and we thought we had a big chance. He finished second-last. "It took us a long time to figure him out, and geld him. He did run well here the last day and a little step forward again." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
