Following-up on her breakthrough win at Bellewstown last month, Mrs Mc Go led home three rivals in the WTW Willis Mares Handicap Hurdle.

One of two John McConnell-trained representatives in the line-up, the 3/1 chance raced in second under Dylan Kidd and was poised to challenge the front-running Kilbunny Supersonic on the approach to two out.

Owned and bred by Thomas McGeough, the bay victor was ridden to lead shortly after that obstacle and was faultless over the last, extended her advantage on the run-in and coming home five-and-a-half lengths to the good.

The aforementioned Kilbunny Supersonic (5/2) had to settle for second under Luke Murphy, while Diamond Tipp a stable companion of the winner, was another four-and-a-quarter lengths back in third.

Returned the 15/8 favourite, Neon Diamond was struggling a long way out and trailed home in rear.

"We always thought a lot of her. She ran well in her bumpers last year," Kidd, who is from Trim and previous rode on the level, revealed.

"I was suspended the last day she won, so I was a bit gutted, but nice to get the winner today.

"Big thanks to Tommy McGeough as well - he owns her and trains her (rides her out) as well, but he has just been out for the past two weeks so I have just been stepping in for him.

"That's my third winner over jumps and hopefully a few more to come. Garry Cribbin is my agent.

"She kind of settles well, travels well, and just does everything you ask of her."

McConnell later added: "In fairness, it is a team effort with Thomas (McGeough) that owns her and the lads. They do most of it.

"Tommy has been on the sidelines, so Dylan has been doing a lot of work with the horse.

"He was banned the last time (in Bellewstown), so it was good he got back on her this time.

"I said to Tommy afterwards that up to three miles she might be better again. She might still have a little bit left in her mark at that. I'm going to try and convince Tommy to take her to Cheltenham with us in October. We'll have a team for that. I think there is a three-mile race there for her.

"She has had two wins now, so she could have a bit of a freshen up. We can enjoy ourselves now!"

STEWARDS REPORTS

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Neon Diamond, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have mucus in his nostrils post race.

J.W. Kennedy, rider of Neon Diamond, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled.
