Patrick Prendergast has reported that his stable star Sugar Boy is in good form ahead of his next intended start at Leopardstown on June 7th.

The Irish Derby bound son of Authorized holds an entry in the Group 3 Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday but he is unlikely to take up that engagement.

He will instead go for the Listed King George V Stakes (formerly the Nijinsky Stakes) at Leopardstown on June 7th before taking his chance in the Derby.

Prendergast said yesterday afternoon: "He is in good old form but I might not run him on Sunday. I just entered him in it to have a look and I’ll probably run him in the Nijinsky Stakes over a mile and three furlongs at Leopardstown (June 7th) instead.

"The ground is fairly good at the Curragh at the moment and I wouldn’t run him on firm ground.

"After Leopardstown he'll then go for the Derby and I’ll take whatever ground comes up there."
