Just a length separated the first four home in the concluding Cusack Hotel Group Family Day July 11th Handicap, with Conor Maxwell's Kool One coming out on top.

Winning twice in August of last year and a solid fifth on his return to action last month, the Kool Kompany bay was sent off an 11/2 joint-favourite, from early shows of 10/1.

Settled in mid-division by James Ryan before making progress from early in the straight, the 69-rated five-year-old was switched to the outer with two furlongs to go.

Soon ridden, he picked up well inside the final 200 yards and was a neck in front on crossing the line, with Ciaran Murphy's Granville Street (18/1) the one just denied.

Getting a dream run through on the inner to lead with a furlong to go, Tom McCourt's Radar Ahead (66/1) couldn't maintain her advantage and finished another neck back in third.

McCourt's Celtic Druid (11/1) finished a close fourth, while Earthsong who was the other 11/2 joint-favourite, finished fifth.

"It's great to get another win on him for my parents (Kieran and Mairead). We'll get another couple of dinners out of them!" the winning rider reflected.

"He did it well, we had a bit of traffic early on in the straight but, once we got out and got rolling, he hit the line strong.

"Conor has done a great job with him."
