Light As Air completes Curragh three-timer for O'Brien and Moore Having been on the scoresheet twice already on the afternoon, Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore brought up personal trebles when Light As Air rallied close home to win the Hong Kong Thoroughbred Breeders Alliance Irish EBF Maiden at the Curragh. Leading early on, Moore sat second after a couple of furlongs, as Keithen Kennedy went on aboard Winston Junior. Pushed along entering the home straight, 1/2f Light As Air edged closer to the leader from over two furlongs out. Eventually getting to the front a furlong from home, Moore had to be strong on the Ballydoyle trained colt as Winston Junior responded to draw level over 150 yards out. However, Light As Air just found that bit extra in the dying strides, going on close home to score by half-a-length. Aidan O’Brien said: “We thought he was a well handicapped horse. He was unlucky at Leopardstown and was also placed at Navan but was a bit disappointing at Ascot last time. “Today we thought he’d win easier than that, but we think there is more to come with him. Ryan gave him a good ride. “We might give him a little more time now. He’d a tough race there and Ryan said the second horse kept coming with him all the way, but he didn’t lie down. “He stays well and looks like he could get further.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee.
