Trainer Eddie Linehan registered his first jumping success at Wexford today as his Ken’s Well improved one placing on two recent runner-up efforts when landing the Stena Line Europe Maiden Hurdle, under jockey Danny Mullins.
Linehan, who is a busy face in the world of breeze-up sales, had previously trained two flat winners in 2015 but Ken’s Well, a son of Trans Island, today scored on his second hurdles start when staying on well on the run-in to beat Get Smart
Linehan, who trains near Mallow, later said “we've had a few seconds but that's my first winner over jumps and he deserved that, as he is very consistent.
“I think he was crying out for that trip and something to jump and I’d say the sooner he gets a fence the better - that's his job.
"He is in entered in the sales at Ascot on the 18th, and he might go there but we might decide to go for a handicap at Galway instead.
"He takes his racing well, has been a good fun horse and hopefully he will keep improving, which he should do.”
