Roving Lad followed up his recent Limerick success when providing jockey Andrew Lynch with a double at Sligo today, winning the Ladies Day 9th August at Sligo Handicap Hurdle for trainer Paul Gilligan.

Lynch moved the top weight (carrying 12st3lbs) to challenge from two out and the pair moved to the front on the run-in to defeat Young Milly

Gilligan, out of luck with Churchfield Champ in the previous contest, later said “Roving Lad's owner (Dr Anthony Browne) is from Galway but is currently in Valencia, Spain.

“We nearly had to run him after winning at Limerick and he has won two now in a couple of days and we might leave him now for a while. I was a little bit afraid of his big weight as he's not that big.”
