Lynches Knock swooped over the top to conquer in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Academy Hurdle at Leopardstown for a red-hot Gordon Elliott. Kilbarry Lizzy was game off the front in this two-and-a-quarter-mile assignment and, although pressed by Hygge over the last and on the run-in, was still boxing on at the head of affairs in the closing stages as she went for home.

She wasn't in, though, as Jordan Gainford conjured a storming finish from Lynches Knock in third on the run-in.

The 6/1 shot came home best of all to pip Kilbarry Lizzy in the final strides and scored by a neck from the 5/2 runner-up. Hygge, the 6/4 favourite, was four lengths away in third.

This gave Elliott a quick-fire double as Last Round also obliged in the opener at Limerick.

He said: “He was a bit keen the last day, so we rode him to get him settled. He’s come a long way forward and I loved the way he galloped and hit the line.

“He could end up being a Fred Winter horse.

“I’d say the other fella (Hygge) may not have stayed.”
