Manger Hanagment makes it five in-a-row

The Gordon Elliott trained Manger Hanagment made it win it five wins in-a-row at Sedgefield this afternoon, making all for the fifth time running, to win the 2m 5f Novice Hurdle with Tony McCoy aboard.

The 6yo son of Heron Island began the sequence of wins just last month at Perth winning a 2m Novice Chase at the odds of 11/8 favourite with Jason Maguire aboard.

He then followed up in another Novice Chase at Hereford this time over 2m 5f at evens favourite with Tony McCoy in the saddle.

McCoy also rode him on his third and fourth wins coming this month at Newton Abbot and Perth both of which were back over hurdles over the trips of 2m 6f and 3 miles respectively.

Having won each of his four starts before today by over ten lengths he was made work a lot harder today as he found it difficult to shake off the challenge of second favourite at 5/2 Elsafeer.

However mistakes at the last two hurdles by that gelding severely dented his chance as the 8/13 favourite stayed on well to score by a length and a half.

The pair went nineteen lengths clear of the third and considering the runner-up was carrying just 10-5 to Manger Hanagment's 11-12, it was a good performance by the winner.
