Marnane happy with latest recruit

Hebridean is set to have his first run since joining County Tipperary trainer David Marnane at Leopardstown on June 10.

The five-year-old, previously with Aidan O'Brien, Paul Nicholls and Luca Cumani, moved to the Marnane stable two months ago.

"We are delighted with him, he's training well and I'm due to start him off in a mile Listed race at Leopardstown," said Marnane.

"I know he's won over further but I'd like to start him off over sharp trips and work our way up. He could go for a race on Derby weekend after Leopardstown.

"We daren't do anything wrong with him - he's had two champion trainers so far! He's a lovely addition to the yard and he's come here fit, healthy and well."

Hampstead Heath has already proved a shrewd acquisition from another top stable with the former Mark Johnston inmate now headed for the Galway Plate after winning both his races over fences.

"He's a revelation over fences at the moment. He's two out of two and the handicapper has given him a mark of 136 which is pretty high," Marnane went on.

"While he doesn't have a lot of experience over fences he jumps very quick and clean and fluent. He does have a lot of experience on the Flat so he's not a relatively inexperienced horse.

"He's definitely taken to the chasing game. He may go straight to Galway or we might try to find a suitable race in between. If I can't find one I'd be happy to go straight to Galway with him."
