Mick Collins continued a good recent run for Noel Meade when getting up close home to justify favouritism in the David McKeown A1 Generators Maiden at Bellewstown.

The four-year-old was available at 11/4 in the morning and further supported on track from 2/1 into 13/8 favourite to provide Meade with a fourth winner in the space of eights days. Black Heather appeared likely to follow up a hurdle win at Naas just over 48 hours ago when leading over a furlong out but faded in the closing stages.

Colin Keane, already on the ten-winner mark for the season, got a good response from Mick Collins to beat Tuker’s Tipple by a neck with Black Heather the same distance back in third.

Meade said, “He's a lovely big horse, track a bit tight for him.

"He's a horse that will jump hurdles and wouldn't be surprised if he jumps fences in time as he's a huge, big horse.

"Always thought a lot of him, but his mind is a little bit buzzed. He's hard to keep settled.

"We got there and that's a new owner, so it's great."
