Mission Central blitzes big field of Curragh rivals Ballydoyle's Mission Central (4/1) spread-eagled the big field Audi Naas Irish EBF Maiden at the Curragh by no less than eight lengths in the hands of Ryan Moore. It's not often six furlong contests are won by such margins, but over on the far-side the No Nay Never gelding was looking good up front from some way out. Returning off a break since his debut Dundalk 5th placing in April, the Gigginstown House Stud-bred juvenile was chased home by Chicago Pope and Whatchadoin. For the team that won the opener, Ger Lyons and Colin Keane, Watch Tower headed the betting. His finishing effort was okay but it could only carry him into a finishing position of fifth place. “We ran him in Dundalk the first day and he was a bit worse than green so that’s why we took him home and gelded him," revealed Aidan O'Brien, winning trainer. “He’s been perfect since and we’ll go up to a Listed or Group race with him next time. He’s a very quick horse.” K.G. Kennedy, rider of Portmagee Girl, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount reared leaving the stalls. C.D. Hayes, rider of Star Reign, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got very fractious in the stalls. J. Kearney, rider of The Cosy Corner, trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount bucked leaving the stalls. (AM & EM)
