Morris upbeat about positive Breeders’ Cup swansong for Tiffany

Latest NewsLatest News

Luke Morris has backed Tiffany to excel once again in America when she makes her second trans-Atlantic venture of the season, this time to bring the curtain down on her career in the Breeders' Cup.

Due to go under the hammer at Tattersalls in December, Sir Mark Prescott's six-year-old turned a string of near-misses in high-ranking events into a first Group One triumph in Germany on her penultimate start.

She then swelled the coffers even further when seeing off last year's Breeders' Cup Turf winner Ethical Diamond in the Kentucky Turf Cup and will now return Stateside seeking to better the gallant effort of owners Elite Racing Club's Marsha in her own Breeders' Cup swansong at Del Mar in 2017.

Morris Praises Training Switch for Tiffany Resurgence

Morris said: “She's been a revelation in the second half of the season. They changed her training regime slightly and it has really paid dividends. She looks in great shape and now she has confidence behind her it will hopefully carry her forwards.”

He went on: “She's had a relatively light campaign compared to some of the competitors going there and fingers crossed she can run a big race.

“We went to the Breeders' Cup with Marsha a few years ago for the same owners and she ran creditably and hopefully Tiffany can put up a bold show.”

Morris has been in the saddle for each of Tiffany's 19 career starts and nine victories and although he has never tasted competitive action at Keeneland himself, feels the Lexington track should pose few problems as the mare bids to sign off with a perfect 10th triumph.

Confidence High Ahead of Keeneland Test

“I think she will be well-suited to Keeneland and she's been all round Europe and to America and nothing phases her,” added the long-time Heath House number one.

“It's one of the reasons we were quietly confident going to America before because she is very straightforward and has never turned a hair when travelling all over Europe. She always performed creditably wherever she runs as well.

“I've never actually ridden at Keeneland before, but it looks a very straightforward American-style track and I can't see it causing her any problems.”
