Mullins' newcomer wins the last at Punchestown Easter Bonnet, trained by Willie Mullins for the Temple Bloodstock Shadows Syndicate, was an emphatic winner of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Flat Race at Punchestown. Making her debut and sent off 4/7 favourite, the four-year-old soon raced in second under Patrick Mullins and was travelling best from early in the straight as the front-running Prophetess Miriam came under pressure. Shaken up to lead a furlong out, the winner was ridden clear to post a six and a half lengths win over Prophetess Miriam. “She’s bred by the French version of my mother, Madame Jacky Mullins!” said the winning rider. “We’ve a few mares over in France. She’s obviously by Doctor Dino and it’s a wonderful pedigree, we’ve had five winners out of the dam already. “This syndicate had a mare during the summer that did a tendon, so they bought this one and it’s great for them to have a bit of luck. “They went a real strong gallop and I thought turning in that the horse in front would come back to me, but I’ve had to go and get him as the second kept going. “My one won well and I’d imagine she’s earned her chance to go to Cheltenham in November. “She’s only about 15-2 so Navan on heavy ground probably wouldn’t be her cup of tea. At Cheltenham in November you can still get dry ground.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
