What Path was another all-the-way winner in Tipperary for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend.

He went off 11/8 favourite for the three mile maiden hurdle and was less than fluent four out. The Coastal Path gelding was then chased from the next by his main market rival, Easy Fella

The latter was close enough if good enough turning into the straight. Both horses then fluffed the second-last hurdle and it was What Path who was driven to try to assert coming to the last.

Easy Fella was still in with a chance, but the door soon closed when What Path jumped it well. He got away from it and kept on well to see it out by two and three-quarter lengths from the 11/4 runner-up.

The front two had the race to themselves at the business end as Misty's Gift came in seven lengths back in third at 8/1.

Townend said: “His jumping was a bit of a mixed bag, but he was so lairy in front.

"He was probably entitled to win it if you put a line through his Listowel run. He obviously wasn’t right there on the day, had a break and was fresh today.

“He probably won snug enough at the finish and will jump a fence.”
