Murphy lands first treble at home track Local trainer Ciaran Murphy recorded his first career treble when Anodandawink ran out a cosy all-the-way winner of the Smiddy’s Pub Mullingar Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan this evening. The JP McManus-owned gelding went to post a 6/5 shot in the three-mile-one contest and was given a confident front-running ride by Peter Smithers. His mount had his three rivals hard at work before the last fence and went on to post a four-length success over Kings Jet. The trainer, who recently celebrated his 50th birthday, is currently abroad and his brother, and assistant, Aaron said afterwards:- “It’s a super achievement and especially to do it here at home in Kilbeggan, it means even more to us — to be able to come with three runners and have three winners this evening. “We came with three live chances and they all clicked.” On the winner he added:- “Obviously it’s an unbelievable owner to have in the yard and he’s after winning twice for us. “It’s important for them, they bred him as well. It’s nice to be able to produce the goods for them.”
