On a flying visit home, jockey Oisin Murphy scored readily on the first of his six rides as Celtic Motif easily landed the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Killarney.

Sent off 1/5f to break her maiden status, the Joseph O'Brien-trained filly justified those cramped odds in impressive fashion.

Making just about all the running, the Wells Watson owned four-year-old quickened clear over a furlong out, keeping on well to win by six lengths.

It was a first ever winner at his local track for the five times English champion jockey.

“It’s nice to win on her. She was a standout in the race, she had good form before she went to America for Joseph and had very good form over in America,” said Murphy.

“It was great that she won. Thank you to Killarney racecourse and everyone that has come. They put in an awful lot of effort.”
