The 7lb claim of Eoghan Finegan came in handy for connections of Moudan as the top-weight landed Navan's two miles, one furlong handicap chase.

Finegan had Patrick McCormack's homebred in a prominent position throughout and the Mount Nelson battled on well from the second-last to hold off market leader Park That by two and a half lengths.

The winner, returned at 7/2 having been 8/1 this morning, was gaining a second win over fences to go with two victories over hurdles.

Winning trainer Ciaran Murphy commented "I thought the last run (fifth at Gowran) was a lovely run in a Listed handicap.

"Eoin Walsh and Eoghan Finegan ride for me,and Eoin looked after him that day, but we felt we had to claim off him today.

"The young man did a lovely job and I'm very pleased with the ride he gave him.

"The horse hit the line well and he handles that ground well. Jumped adequately and he is still going to improve in that department. He is a late developer. He's doing very little wrong which is lovely.

"There's a nice handicap in Fairyhouse we have in our head, and that would sort of be the plan. It would be in our head if we get our ground. He's going to fit into the bottom of a nice handicap. I don't think we are going to look stupid going there with him.

"He's a very solid horse."
