Mallowney will head for the Flyingbolt Novice Chase at Navan on February 16 after his unfortunate exit in the Arkle Novice Chase at Leopardstown last Sunday.

Tim Doyle's eight-year-old was still to be asked a question when he fell at the second-last.

Cheltenham is not on his agenda and with his preference for cut in the ground, he may have a busy spell coming up while the wet weather prevails.

"He's OK, just a little stiff but there's no serious damage done," said Doyle.

"I'm still coming to terms with the fact he fell when he was still going so well. His jockey said he was still full of running.

"I'm leaning towards running him at Navan in three weeks in the Flyingbolt. My thinking is that most of the better novices will be heading to Cheltenham and we'll miss them.

"We thought about the Grand Annual, but I think we'll give it a miss.

"He needs cut in the ground really, so while we'll think of Punchestown, the ground might have gone. We'll see. We might have to make hay while he's got his ground over the next six to eight weeks."
