O'Callaghan excited about Bruce Wayne Michael O’Callaghan feels Round Tower Stakes runner-up Bruce Wayne could be the best horse he has trained to date. The Slade Power colt finished sixth behind Ten Sovereigns on his debut, beaten over 11 lengths, but just a week later when the two met in the Group Three back at the Curragh the gap was closed to less than four. “He took a huge step forward, arguably bigger than Ten Sovereigns,” said O’Callaghan. “To be fair his run in the Round Tower was like having his first run all over again because he was so green first time out. “We think a hell of a lot of this horse, we think he’s very good, possibly the best I’ve ever had, that’s why I was happy to run him in a race like the Round Tower only a week after his first start. “He’s a very good colt with a lot of ability. I think he’ll have two more runs this year, we’ll try to win a maiden and then either stick to six furlongs for the Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte or step up to seven for something like the Killavullan.”
