Katie O'Farrell faces a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a leg injury at Galway.

The conditional jockey suffered a fracture to the left fibula in a collision during the Galway Hurdle aboard the Willie Mullins-trained Voix Du Rêve.

The injury, which was originally suspected to be a bone bruise and an inflamed ligament, forced the 5lb claimer to forfeit her rides at Kilbeggan on Saturday.

Following x-rays at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny, a fracture was revealed and Dr Adrian McGoldrick confirmed that no surgery was necessary.

O'Farrell, who is having a fine season, is expected to be out of action for between four to six weeks.
