Aidan O’Brien has won the featured Group 1 race with Auguste Rodin and Kyprios the last two days at Royal Ascot and he bids to land another big pot this afternoon with Opera Singer in the Coronation Stakes at 3.45pm.

The daughter of Justify won the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac in impressive fashion last autumn and following a slight setback this spring, made a pleasing reappearance when third to Fallen Angel in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh last month.

Ryan Moore’s mount is a general 2/1 favourite while the first three home in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket — Elmalka, Porta Fortuna and Ramatuelle — are all in opposition along with French Guineas winner Rouhiya.

O’Brien also holds strong claims in the opening Group 3 Albany Stakes with Fairy Godmother, while Diego Velazquez is another from Ballydoyle at the head of the market in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes (at 5.40).

Moore’s strong book of rides today also includes the Willie Mullins-trained Ethical Diamond, a strong 5/2 favourite against 18 rivals in the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap at 4.25.

The going remains good to firm and Clerk of the Course Chris Stickels said yesterday: “We plan to water this evening — the same as we did last night, which will be 5mm on the whole course.

“The forecast for tomorrow is very similar to today. The Friday forecast does indicate that we may get an odd shower or two. I don’t think that there is much in the way of total accumulations, 1mm to 2mm at the most, but we will keep an eye on that.”
