Osario off the mark for Twomey The Paddy Twomey-trained Elana Osario made the breakthrough in the SIS Maiden at Ballinrobe this evening. She was sent off a strongly supported 8/15 favourite on her sixth outing, having been placed four times. Colin Keane tracked the leaders on the hotpot before asking her to take closer order passing the two pole. The Lope De Vega filly hit the front turning for home and held the challenge of Navy Waters in the closing stages to record a half-length win. Keane said afterwards:- “She had some nice runs in defeat last year. Billy (Lee) thought that the last day she was just too fresh and gassy with him and did too much with him, and that back up in trip today would suit. “I got a lead and it worked out well. We jumped, went along, she relaxed and picked it up. She was probably having a little bit of a look going to the line, so there is probably a bit left in her. “For a filly that was able to jump and run the last day you wouldn’t have thought it but it’s not a bad thing as she’s probably saving a bit for herself. “A mile-and-a-quarter or a mile-and-a-half, I think, is a good fit for her. They’ve done a great job on the track, it’s beautiful ground and she handles it well. “She handled the track well, she’s a nimble enough little filly. A little bit leerier than I thought she would be but it’s nice to get it done.”
