Oxx hoping Alanza steps up John Oxx is hoping Alanza can make the step up to Group One company in the Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket tomorrow. The Aga Khan-owned filly had to be supplemented into the race earlier in the week at a cost of £16,000. Her form this season more than warrants her taking her chance in a Group One and the step back up to a mile should be very much in her favour after she flashed home late to win a Group Three at Doncaster last time. "She's done well and has progressed from one start to the next," said Oxx. "Stepping up in distance has improved her. She won over seven last time at Doncaster but a mile might suit her better. It was a slightly slow pace for the first couple of furlongs there which probably didn't help her. "She's in good form. Obviously it is a bit of a brave step supplementing her with a filly like Sahpresa in there, and Timepiece - you've got two Group One winners. "We are trying to make up our minds whether to keep her in training as a four-year-old and this race will give us a chance to point her in one direction or the other. "It would be nice to see her involved in the finish, then we could see what the future holds. "After the two Group One winners, all the others are very tightly grouped together on ratings. It's an open race and I'm sure everybody in the field thinks they have a chance of being placed and they'll be hoping they might have an improver who could shake up the principals. "I've got a 100% record in England this season but those records never last long!"
