Trainer Hugo Palmer is not expecting fireworks from Majoris when he becomes the second son of Frankel to grace the racecourse at Haydock on Friday.

The mighty Frankel was retired to stud in 2012 as one of the all-time greats, having won each of his 14 career starts for the late Sir Henry Cecil, including 10 at Group One level.

The John Gosden-trained Cunco, the first foal Frankel, became the first of his offspring to make the track at Newbury earlier this month and made a most impressive start to spark dreams of Royal Ascot glory.

Majoris is out of Kingmambo mare Drops, who failed to win any of her four starts for Aidan O'Brien, but is beautifully bred as a daughter of multiple Group One winner Alexandrova.

Palmer said: "I'm hoping for a nice introduction, but we haven't wound him up to win first time out.

"I hope he's a nice horse and think he'll be more of a seven-furlong horse or a miler in time. I think this will probably be his only run over six furlongs.

"He's ready to start, but it's a stepping-stone for where we want to go.

"If he did win, that would be great, but it's a competitive-looking race and, more than anything, we want to give him a good experience."

Majoris faces 13 rivals in division two of the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes, with Gosden's Newbury runner-up Spiritous setting the standard.
