Patience rewarded as Hob's Angel belatedly opens account

A 22-race maiden coming into the contest, the 10-year-old Hob's Angel belatedly registered a first career success when keeping on well to win Division l of the Bet With Tote.ie On Racing & Sports Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel.

Sent off 9/1, the Ms Yvonne Hennessy and Harry Williams owned mare came through to head leader Andyourbirdcansing after three out.

Pushed along after the penultimate flight, a good jump at the last saw the James Barcoe trained daughter of Mahler assert on the run-in to beat Global Skies by three-quarters-of-a-length.

James Barcoe said: "Dan King was very good on her the last day, as she had been doing too much in her races, and afterwards said she was now ready to ridden amongst other horses. We were lucky to get Josh (Williamson) today, who is a chip off the old block.

"We bought this mare two years ago and Harry Willams, from New Ross, comes here quite often and part-owns this mare, so it is great for him."
