Plenty of interest at Leopardstown on Thursday There are generally small fields at Leopardstown tomorrow with the largest line-up being the thirteen that will assemble for the Fernleigh Handicap at 7.20. There is some interesting action nonetheless with an own sister to champion two-year-old of 2006 and now successful sire, Teofilo, making her debut in the opener at 5.45. This three-year-old is called Teo's Sister. Philip Byrne based at Dove Grove, Birr, County Offaly has his first runner when Fandango Boy runs in the aforementioned 7.20. The 29yo commented: "Fandango Boy is a real little warrior but after a couple of tough campaigns he has had over 300 days off. If he's back to his best he should run well tomorrow but he might be a bit rusty. "My father Michael has always been an owner and breeder and we'd hold on to the ones that we wouldn't sell. I have been in the game for years and I've worked for Pat Doyle and Charlie Swan in the past. "I rode as an amateur (won a bumper on Highpower at Kilbeggan in May 2004) when I was going to college. There aren't too many trainers around Birr but we'll give it a go and it's mainly jumpers that we'll be involved in." It will be fascinating to see how the three-year-olds Saddler's Rock and Nantucket Bay get on against the older horses in the Follow Leopardstown on Facebook Handicap at 7.55. Half-an-hour later Green To Gold bids to follow-up his easy Bellewstown win under a fixed penalty in the "Kila & Paddy Casey" Apprentice Handicap. The concluding Avoca Maiden at 8.55 is an interesting affair over a mile and a half with seven due to face the starter. (EM)
