Plunkett Street survives enquiry in the last Plunkett Street survived a stewards enquiry before he was officially declared the winner of the concluding Racing Again Tomorrow Handicap. Trained by Michael O'Meara and a winner at Navan last September, the 54-rated bay was sent off a 5/1 chance today. Making virtually all under Leigh Roche, the seven-year-old chestnut was pressed over two furlongs out and soon drifted to his right when ridden. Keeping on well in the closing stages, he was eased near the line, coming home half-a-length to the good. Hampered by the winner over a furlong out, Grizabella (9/1) needed to be switched off the rail and while she finished out her race well, she ultimately had to settle for second. Returned the 2/1 favourite (from 4s), Tatum was another length and a half way in third. "He lugs right-handed and leans a lot but likes soft ground. The ground suited today and hopefully there'll be another handicap in him," O'Meara remarked. Roche added: "He got a nice easy lead in front and probably enjoys that but whatever it is with him going right-handed. He hung the whole way and I changed my stick into my right hand from a mile out. "He wasn't doing a stroke the whole way down the straight but is good and genuine. In that grade he is better than them and hopefully the handicapper isn't too hard on him." STEWARDS REPORTS * The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving Grizabella, ridden by D. McMonagle, placed second and Plunkett Street (GB), ridden by L.F. Roche, placed first, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. McMonagle said he went for a run down the inside and Plunkett Street drifted across, tightening him and caused him to switch. He added the interference cost him the winning of the race. L.F. Roche said his mount hung right all the way up the straight and felt Grizabella had enough time to get into the gap if he was good enough. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action. * D. McMonagle, rider of Grizabella, trained by Paul W. Flynn, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got carried right and had to switch which cost him the winning of the race. * L.F. Roche, rider of Plunkett Street (GB), trained by Michael William O'Meara, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right throughout. Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes
