Pockets full for supporters of Empty Wallet Nicola Burns rode her second winner for Ger Lyons in recent weeks when producing Empty Wallet from off the pace to land the Irish EBF Median Sires Series (C & G) Maiden at Bellewstown. Dropped right out from stalls, Burns was content to ride a waiting race as Askalon and Invincible Will took the runners along. Wayne Lordan looked to have the perfect box seat position on 4/5f World Tour, tracking the front two with everything covered. With Invincible Will the first of the leaders to give way, Lordan went second on World Tour entering the straight. However, everything changed quickly over a furlong out, as both Empty Wallet and Camden Fort came through from off the pace to take over at the head of affairs. Nothing separated the pair until deep inside the final furlong, when Burns eventually got on top to win by a length. Ger Lyons said: "I think you have to have experience coming here. Having said that, he threw away whatever experience gained in Down Royal with Nicola at the start. "The one thing I said to her going out was 'don't ride the track, ride the horse and go through the gears'. She's a very intelligent young lady and is a lovely kid. "We knew he would stay and we knew the other one (third-placed Carwyn) would stay. It is nice to give them a nice gallop around rather than working at home tomorrow in Glenburnie. "It is nice that they win but when they popped out like they did I didn't think that was going to be on the cards. "I get a great thrill out of winning for Sean (Jones), he has been with me forever. It is nice to win a race for him. "He's probably a nursery type horse. He's a big, scopey horse and he should get better with age. We'll see where that brings us, I wouldn't have any big, major plans with him." On Carwyn, he added: "He's a horse we like. He has run well and I want him to back that up. "He will learn plenty for the experience on a better track. "I'm looking forward to him. The two of them are two horses I thought would win their maidens, so they have to do it now."
