Power not definite for Ascot

Saturday's Temple Stakes hero Sole Power is not a definite participant at Royal Ascot next month.

Last year's 100-1 Nunthorpe winner showed his class with a superb display at Haydock, beating off the likes of Kingsgate Native and the 'Budapest Bullet' Overdose.

Sole Power now heads the betting for the King's Stand Stakes at the summer showpiece meeting, but his trainer Edward Lynam has warned a return to York in August is his primary objective.

"He's arrived home 100% and we're delighted and very proud of him," said Lynam.

"He's probably 70% to go to Royal Ascot, but our main aim is the Nunthorpe. We'd love to go to Hong Kong with him in December as well.

"We'd love to try him over six furlongs in Hong Kong with the bends they have on a flat track.

"If they go fast enough and he relaxes he'll get six furlongs, but it is very hard to get him to relax - even over five furlongs."

South African jockey Keagan Latham guided Sole Power at the weekend but Lynam expects regular rider Wayne Lordan to be back in the saddle next time if he is available.

"I would imagine Wayne Lordan will ride him next time, but we'll have to talk about it," Lynam added.

"Keagan gave him a great ride and is a lovely option to have, but Wayne has ridden him most of the time and it was just unfortunate he couldn't ride him at Haydock."
