Boston Rover completed a quick double for Gordon Elliott and Kevin Sexton, as he registered a first career win in the George And Joan McCourt Memorial Beginners Chase.

Twice placed over flights last season, the Rajj six-year-old certainly wasn't helped by a mistake at the last when second on his chase debut at Limerick last month.

Returned a 4/1 joint-favourite this evening, the bay victor tracked the leaders and wasn't fluent four out.

Improving to dispute the lead, he was again not fluent at the penultimate fence, but led over the last and drew clear on the run-in, with five-lengths the margin of victory.

The front-running Iamagetaway (12/1) had to settle for second under Kieren Buckley, while reserve One Night Standard who was well-supported from 16s into 4/1 joint-favouritism, was five-and-a-half lengths back in third.

"It took a while for the winners to start coming but hopefully they don't stop now!" Sexton, who guided Pied Piper to victory in the previous contest, enthused.

"I got a nice lead off Iamagetaway, who is a horse that I know very well.

"I actually had the choice of the two of them, I've ridden Iamagetaway in all of his runs, but obviously when Gordon called upon me his lad had a good run the last day.

"I kept tabs on him the whole way. In fairness to Sam (Ewing) he warned me not to hit the front too soon on him.

"I just had him locked up behind him the whole way and picked him off when I wanted to. He'll improve again from it."

STEWARDS REPORTS

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Chiefs Kingdom trained by Paul Nolan, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on the right fore post race.

G. Brouder, rider of Chiefs Kingdom, trained by Paul Nolan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount landed awkwardly after the second and thought it took a lame stride and pulled up immediately. He added that on pulling up his mount felt sound.
