Snapequus & Sheridan lunge late to land nursery Dundalk’s Michael And Esther Cooney Memorial Nursery produced a good finish with Snapequus getting on top close home to score for trainer Joseph O’Brien. The Ten Sovereigns colt had been well held in three maidens but an opening mark of 61 was expected to be within his compass as he went off the 9/4 favourite. Sixth of the nine runners turning for home in the seven-furlong heat, the winner soon came under a drive. Fourth passing the furlong marker, he finished best to beat the stronger-travelling Tio Joao by half a length. "It didn't feel like we went mad through the mid-part of the race. He had to pick up to go and get them, but he did that well," said jockey Joey Sheridan. "He's a lovely, straightforward horse and always a pleasure to ride for John Farrell (owner), he's an absolute gentleman. Very down-to-earth fella and it is great that the horses he breeds go on to win. Anything he does breed, does win for him. "I'm sure he will get a bit further and he handled that surface well.
