Stop The Nation marked a momentous day for both Jack Davison and James Ryan, as he led home seven rivals in the Lavazza Sprint Nursery Handicap.

Third in the Anglesey Stakes over the course and distance last month, the 87-rated bay was sent off a 15/2 chance this afternoon.

Settled behind the leaders in third, before taking closer order from the two-furlong pole, the Sioux Nation colt was pushed along to lead with over a furlong to go.

Ridden and pressed by Which Wolf Wins inside the final furlong, there was ultimately a neck between them at the line.

The Joseph O'Brien-trained runner-up was the outsider of the field at 33/1, with Wayne Hassett aboard this 66-rated colt.

Returned the 9/4 favourite, David Marnane's Gavoo finished another length-and-a-quarter back in third.

"I had a baby boy at 23:59 last night and James Ryan lost his claim there. It's a real feel good winner on many fronts," said Davison.

"He's a good colt and he's learning the whole time. He'll be a lovely horse for the Goffs Million.

"I thought he'd win today, I thought he was a few pounds well in. He was just doing enough and there was plenty there.

"He's learning on the job, settling better and finishing better. It's all positive.

"He's a high cruiser and he was able to finish. It was a lovely ride by James and he's ridden out his claim now. I'm delighted it was for me, he's a big part of the team."
